Hay Meadow Burial Ground is an award-winning natural burial ground situated amongst the Radnorshire hills in rural Mid Wales, offering both meadow and woodland burials.
At Hay Meadow Burial Ground our family-run land continues to be farmed and grazed by our flock of sheep. Plots can be pre-purchased, singly or as a family group. As a Natural Burial Ground, we welcome biodegradable, non-toxic coffins, shrouds and caskets/urns for ashes.
A secluded, peaceful location offset from a country lane, the Glas Brook flows through the family farm in the valley beneath, surrounded by 7000 acres of hills, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which is home to a vast array of wildlife, heather and native fruits.
At Hay Meadow, you can have the service of your choice. There are many celebrants who will create a beautiful service to celebrate the life of your loved one either in the meadow or separate to the funeral. Alternatively, you or the family may feel confident to conduct the service yourselves. The land is not consecrated, so we welcome any faith, religion or belief. Arrangements can also be made for graves to be blessed, therefore making Hay Meadow Burial Ground suitable for everyone.
We are pleased to offer our beautiful wooden bier at no additional cost, which carries loved ones to their final resting place. Families are welcome to help push the bier if they choose. We also have a wooden shelter available for funeral gatherings, as well as picnic tables and benches where you are welcome to sit and look up towards the hills. We impose no time limits on services here, as we do not want you to feel rushed or hurried.
We are available to help you arrange a burial or purchase a plot in advance. In either circumstance, please contact us to discuss arrangements and to book a visit.
