The Natural Burial Alliance (NBA) is an alliance of natural burial and green funeral professionals, united in the common purpose of promoting greener funeral practices across the UK.
Our membership scheme focuses on education, continuing professional development, raising awareness of natural burial and encouraging greener funeral practices across the board. Membership of the Alliance is open to anyone who operates a natural burial ground or supplies goods and services to the funeral profession.
We also list UK natural burial grounds and green funeral suppliers in our online directory, allowing you to search and contact suppliers directly via the site. Alongside this we publish regular guides and blogs to inspire your eco funeral planning.

Are you looking for a more natural way to say goodbye?
You are not alone. As we grow increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of burial and cremation processes on our planet, more and more people are now choosing eco-friendly alternatives for their end of life planning.
Natural burial involves the interment of the body in a biodegradable coffin or shroud, without any chemical preservation processes. This ensures nothing that’s harmful to the eco system goes into the ground, and over time our bodies can become part of the natural world around us.
Natural burial grounds are beautiful, peaceful environments such as woodlands and meadows, where you can lay people to rest, hold meaningful funeral ceremonies and visit as often as you wish to remember your loved ones.

Joining the Alliance
Membership of the Natural Burial Alliance is open to anyone who operates a natural burial ground or supplies goods and services to the funeral profession. Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds, including burial ground custodians, funeral directors, celebrants, florists, and more.
Membership of the Alliance is FREE for one year. After that, we ask for an annual contribution of £150 if you wish to remain a member. This ensures we have the resources to provide continued education, support and awareness, and means we can continue to promote your business to our site visitors. Membership discounts are available to charities and to organisations looking to register more than one employee.
So if you’re involved in the funeral profession and support green practices, we would love to welcome you to our membership, support your business and learn more about the service you offer.

We are a family-run enterprise, passionate about natural burial and green funerals. We try to ensure all content on this website is up to date and accurate, taking advice and guidance from our advisory board who are all natural burial professionals.
