About Alex Collis

Hello, I’m Alex Collis – a humanist celebrant particularly specialising in natural burials and collaborative, community-led farewells and celebrations of life.

After five years as a celebrant, I am now working on expanding this part of my work and supporting families to discover the options available to them beyond the ‘traditional’ type of funeral, held in a crematorium, where there are so many restrictions and where families can be discouraged from taking ownership of the ceremony.

My background is in food sustainability, and I used to run local community meals using surplus produce. That gave me an insight into the difference I could make, and I’ve carried that focus – on the environmental impact of our everyday lives – forward into my work as a celebrant.

I conduct funeral services at natural burial grounds and other locations across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. Please do get in touch and I will be happy to answer any questions you have.
