Set in 14 acres of Monmouthshire countryside and surrounded on three sides by mature woodland, Usk Castle Chase Natural Burial Meadow is a peaceful and uplifting place for reflection and remembrance.
The meadow at Usk Castle Chase has far reaching views to the south and south-west over the Usk Valley. The ridge of mature trees along the eastern edge of the meadow is carpeted with bluebells in late spring.
The meadow at Usk is a peaceful, natural place. Somewhere special to spend time listening to the birdsong in the surrounding woodland and taking in the fine views that stretch across the valley to the hills beyond. A place of escape, away from it all.
The oak shelter next to the meadow can be used for gatherings before or after a funeral. The ceiling of the oak shelter houses memorial plaques bearing the names of those buried there.
Rosie Humphreys, the landowner and custodian, looks after the burial meadow along with a small team of helpers. They are always happy to meet you there, to walk round with you and talk about what works well. One of them will also be there on the day of the funeral.
The meadow was chosen because it has something special about it; a place to pause and rest in the heart of the Monmouthshire countryside.
